Meet our Staff

Natasha Carter
Donor Relations Director
As Donor Relations Director, Natasha’s primary responsibility is to research and pursue grant funding opportunities. Focusing on Angel Foundation’s core programs, she approaches corporate, civic and foundation funders for grants to support Angel Foundation’s important work. Previously responsible for the management of Angel Foundation’s donor database, Natasha is excited to explore her new role with Angel Foundation. With more than five years in the nonprofit field, Natasha is happy to bring her previous experience to help further Angel Foundation’s mission. Having lost several family members to cancer, Natasha understands the deep emotional and financial effects cancer can have on a family. A Minnesota transplant, she is thrilled to be able to give back to the community she now calls home.

Kim Douglas
Emergency Financial Assistance Coordinator
Kim has been with Angel Foundation since March of 2012. As emergency financial assistance coordinator, Kim works with healthcare providers and patients to ensure applications submitted are processed in a timely manner. She is grateful to be working with Angel Foundation and feels honored to help carry out its important mission. Kim graduated from the University of Minnesota and is an avid Minnesota sports fan. On many summer nights, you can find Kim and her family cheering on the Twins at Target Field.

Heidi D. Johnson
Marketing and Events Manager
Heidi joined the Angel Foundation staff in August 2015. As the marketing and events manager, Heidi works closely with Angel Foundation staff and volunteers to execute several large fundraising events and smaller programs throughout the year, in addition to developing and writing copy used for marketing and communications. Past employers include Circus Juventas, the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts and St. Mary’s University of Minnesota where she participated in program development, event planning, fundraising, volunteer management and communications. Cancer has touched her life personally, as she has watched her mother battle multiple recurrences, in addition to experiencing the disease herself: she is passionate about the services Angel Foundation provides to those in need and is proud to be on staff for such a wonderful organization. A lifelong dancer and running enthusiast, Heidi also enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Jennifer Kielas
Emergency Financial Assistance Director

Jennifer has been responsible for all aspects of the emergency financial assistance program at Angel Foundation since April 2012. She came to Angel Foundation with more than 10 years of financial experience as well as extensive training and experience in working with people in crisis through nearly four years of service as a police officer. Jennifer is an avid volunteer and enjoys giving back to the community. Having lost her own mother to cancer, Jennifer is sensitive to the needs of those she serves.

Sarah Manes
Vice President of Programs and Community Relations
On staff since 2011, Sarah is responsible for directing and managing the two mission-based programs at Angel Foundation — Emergency Financial Assistance and Facing Cancer Together. Additionally, she oversees all community relations and public speaking aspects for the organization. Sarah brings more than 10 years of experience working in the nonprofit and medical fields, particularly focusing on cancer wellness, program development and community outreach. Sarah has a bachelor’s degree from University of Minnesota Duluth and a master’s degree from Wheelock College in Boston, as well as being a Certified Child Life Specialist. Prior to joining Angel Foundation, she worked at Cleveland Clinic and Stewart’s Caring Place Cancer Wellness Center.

Andrew Rosen
Andrew joined Angel Foundation in January 2016. As President, he is responsible for overall management of the organization and for ensuring both financial and programmatic goals are met. Andrew is honored to be working for Angel Foundation and its great staff, board, volunteers and donors. His past experience includes nonprofit leadership roles with HousingLink, the International School of Lausanne, and Social Venture Partners Minnesota. He also brings 15 years of experience in for-profit roles, most recently in marketing management with Boston Scientific. Andrew looks forward to continuing to build on the legacy of the organization and will focus his energy on growing its impact in the future.

Melissa Turgeon
Facing Cancer Together Director
Melissa joined the staff in August 2015 as the Facing Cancer Together Director. She will be leading the Facing Cancer Together program, providing free education and support programs to families with a parental cancer diagnosis. Melissa has her Master’s in Art Therapy and Creative Development from The Pratt Institute in New York. She is a Registered Art Therapist and is also a Certified Child Life Specialist. She has a unique blend of experience including more than 7 years working in inpatient Oncology units, mental health practitioner and case manager experience, behavioral, women’s shelters, pediatric clinic and inpatient medical services – including palliative care. Melissa is passionate about providing wellness and integrated support to families to help them bring their best foot forward in life. Melissa loves to garden, bicycle and spend time with her family in Minneapolis.

Aleah Van Horne
Development Coordinator
Aleah joined Angel Foundation in September 2015. She oversees the day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the organization, as well as our donor database and the acknowledgement of Angel Foundation’s generous donors. Aleah’s passion for giving back to the community began in college while volunteering with Ronald McDonald House Charities, an organization she continues to be a part of today. Aleah graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in nonprofit management and operations, and is thrilled to be beginning her career in the nonprofit sector with Angel Foundation.
