Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) and Financial Cancer Care (FCC)

How do I apply?

Step 1: Please read the information about eligibility before you apply.

Step 2: Click on Apply Online OR download the Financial Assistance Application if you want to fill it out by hand. (You can mail it or deliver it to the Angel Foundation office: 1155 Centre Pointe Drive, Suite 7 Mendota Heights, MN 55120).

Step 3: Click on the Medical Form and complete it.

Step 4: Review the “What Can I Pay?” section.

Below are the general requirements applicable to both of our Financial Service offerings:

  • Over 18 years of age.
  • Cancer diagnosis.
  • In active treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow transplant, hospice, palliative care, or surgery with a recovery time in excess of four weeks.)
  • Living in or treated in the eleven-county metro area of Minnesota (Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Scott, Sherburne, Washington, or Wright Counties).
  • Meet the financial guidelines set by Angel Foundation.


We provide emergency financial assistance for non-medical expenses, so you can focus on your treatment, self-care and healing.

Who is eligible to receive financial assistance from Angel Foundation?

  • All general eligibility requirements
  • Patient may only receive a general financial assistance grant once in their lifetime


Angel Foundation’s Financial Cancer Care program connects cancer clients in Minnesota with a social service professional and a Pro Bono Certified Financial Planner™ through workshops and one-on-one meetings. The goal of the Financial Cancer Care program is to provide financial education and decrease anxiety about managing finances.

Who is eligible for Angel Foundation’s Financial Cancer Care program?

  • All general eligibility requirements
  • Not currently working with a financial planner

Applicants will be notified of their grant status within 7-10 business days of Angel Foundation receiving the application.

What CAN I pay using the financial assistance I receive?

  • Home phone or cell phone bill
  • Gas, electric, or water bill
  • Garbage bill
  • Cub Foods gift cards
  • Gasoline purchases using Holiday Stations fuel cards

What CANNOT be paid for using the financial assistance I receive?

  • Medical, dental or prescription expenses
  • Childcare fees
  • Credit card payments
  • Cable or internet bills
  • Car payments, repairs or car insurance
  • Insurance fees
