Angel Foundation’s 13th annual Angel Gala at the Hilton Minneapolis Jan. 31 raised $520,000, setting records in fundraising and attendance, with 770 guests present. Most importantly, the proceeds will benefit local adults with cancer and their families this year via Angel Foundation programs.

Themed “Wings of Hope,” this year’s gala featured some of the families involved with Angel Foundation, both live and in video; hosting by Rick Kupchella (emcee) and Kristine Fladeboe Duininck (auctioneer); and after-show dancing to Boogie Wonderland. A silent auction, live auction and dinner were also highlights of the night.

“We are grateful and honored that so many supported the gala so that those in our community who need help will be served this year,” says Mark Wilkening, Angel Foundation president.

The funds raised support Angel Foundation’s two programs: Emergency Financial Assistance and Facing Cancer Together.

The Emergency Financial Assistance provides funds to adults in active treatment for cancer, living in or treated in the Twin Cities, for non-medical basic needs such as groceries, utilities, rent or mortgage payments, and fuel for their cars.

The Facing Cancer Together program provides free education and support programs to families with school-age children living with a parental cancer diagnosis.

Since 2001, Angel Foundation has provided more than $5 million in emergency financial assistance and has helped more than 24,000 people through its programs.
