Angel Foundation 2014 Highlights

Jan. 25: More than 700 attendees raise a record $511,000 at the Angel Gala at the Hilton Minneapolis. This was up from 624 guests generating $437,000 in 2013, and 532 raising $280,000 in 2012.

Feb. 15: On a beautiful snowy day, more than 60 adults and children gather for the annual Facing Cancer Together Winter Retreat at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

March and April: The Facing Cancer Together program hosts several events for families facing cancer, including the six-week education and support series and teen events involving cooking, rock climbing and comedy.

May 10: Families facing cancer enjoy the unique and therapeutic experience of a day on the horse farm at Kadler Farms in Otsego.

June 12-14: Kids Kamp at Eden Wood Center, Eden Prairie, hosts a record 130 children 5-18 who have a parent with cancer along with 100 volunteers for three days of fun and friendship. (Due to the popularity of this camp, Angel Foundation will host two camps in 2015.)

June 23: Tim Mahoney performs a concert for Angel Foundation June 23 at Solera. Dubbed Angel After Hours, the event draws 170 attendees for cocktails and an intimate concert.

July 13: Hundreds turn out for Minnesota Oncology’s celebration of cancer survivors, Hope in Motion 5K Run/Walk, with proceeds going in part to Angel Foundation.

July 28: Angel & Eagles Golf Classic hosts 147 golfers, 237 dinner guests and 55 volunteers at Minnesota Valley Country Club, raising more than $200,000 in our most successful golf event ever.

Aug. 5 and 6: Kids who have a parent facing cancer gather at Angel Foundation for the 2014 Urban Adventures Kids Kamp. For two days, kids ages 5-12, volunteers and staff explore the Mill District in Minneapolis.

Sept. 18: Nearly 30 cancer survivors walk the runway as models at our annual Angel & Divas fashion and shopping fundraising event at A’BULAE in S. Paul. More than 225 attendees raise $40,000 at the popular and uplifting event.

November: The AngelPack program continues to expand. By year end, 154 therapeutic backpacks, designed to provide information and support to children of parents newly diagnosed with cancer, are distributed via 13 sites.

Dec. 31: We close the year having given more Emergency Financial Assistance grants than ever before, and disbursing just under $5 million total since Angel Foundation inception in 2001.
